Indeed, and the same happens in my country. Either they sell the companies to some foreign company, who then gets food from cheap ‘laboratory farmers’, ruining local farmers, or let them fall apart. So we get stuff from Chinese, etc. Although I don’t mind foreign stuff – but I think economy should also at least partially be localized to keep jobs open.
And now your tactic is to pretend that the only people who come to America do so because they’re escaping craphole countries. Sorry but we get immigrants from Canada, Germany, Japan, France, Italy and on and on. But please don’t let any minor little facts like that dissuade you from your pompous shtick of defining America solely by it’s faults. Overseas losers have been using that same tactic for decades. There’s nothing new about it.

I agree with you 100%. Its about that mighty dollar. Eventually the middle class will pull their heads out of their ass and do something. But as long as they can afford all these cheap Chinese, Japanese, Pakistani, Indian, and Mexican goods, they wont give a shit. The easiest way to change something in the US, is to piss of the middle class. Just keep them dumb and happy and they wont notice a damn thing. And this is the country my kids have to grow up in. Lets hope they can find jobs.
When you have a media that basically now is only a PR firm for the Democrat Party/White House, you get very uninformed people, with some of them still voting. Its great someone votes, but please, take a modicum of time to educate yourself about the whole package, not just voting for “free birth control” or “taxing the rich”. Can you imagine our WWII vets fighting so someone can have a free Obama phone to order crack on? Because they sure dont use those free phones looking for work.
I do live in Slovenia. But, I know you work hard. However, the thing is, corporations will rather hire cheap labor – they also are hard working in China, and so are the new immigrants. (both legal and illegal). But unfortunately, instead of opening new jobs, corporations send them overseas/give them to cheap labor, and keep the profits on the bank accounts, instead of placing them back into the corporations, to improve jobs, open new ones, etc.
It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s true. Past generations would not even recognize this country today. Morality, dignity, honor, fortitude, patriotism, fear of God; some of the key attributes that once upon a time were weaved into the foundation of American character, have become increasingly corroded by grossly skewed values and tolerances.The recent elections have proved that the “entitled minded” now outweigh the providers, which is unsustainable. It brought down Rome, as it will the US.

As of 11\12 the US ranks 9th out of 196 countries in the world for “hardest working countries”. Unless you live in Slovenia, New Zealand, China, Austria, Estonia, Canada, Portugal, Japan, or Mexico, you don’t work harder than we do. Lazy? Not by a long shot.
How is there more opportunity for success? Again, false statement. For example: Finland (YES IT’S IN EUROPE, LOOK IT UP SMARTASS) has free school system all the way up to university level. Nobody has to worry about college fees whether you’re rich or poor. That gives everyone equal and much bigger chances of “making it”. You’re the greatest in just two categories: firepower and arrogance.
First of all, WHAT? I mean come on. Really? America is the same as every other country? Even if you are speaking in the most general terms, that statement is idiotic. How, exactly are we the equivalent of some third world country that can’t feed it’s people and run by some tinpot dictator who gasses anybody that doesn’t agree with him?. There is more oppurtunity for success here than anywhere else. People come here from all over the world. Second of all, what so bad about loving your country?.

I’m sure that constantly harping on America’s faults makes you feel sooo superior however considering the fact that people from all over the world are still flocking to America more than any other nation, it seems that many don’t share your pompous feelings of how our negatives outweigh our positives.
@J Wraith..It’s because our negatives have become so glaring that it makes our positives appear very dim and trivial by comparison.
There are two types of people who are getting a boner over this video.
1) The usual brigade of angry overseas losers who are perpetually bitter and insecure about American dominance.
2) Angry American malcontents/slackers here at home who believe that defining America solely by its negatives automatically equates to sophisticated and progressive thinking.

Well I am from Germany in history we were the biggest assholes ever than we lerned Democracy freedom and peace from the allies. But now… We have a strong economy MAYBE the strongest in europe but for me this is no reason to play the europeen Boss. We also have problems ourselves… I think every succesfull country should solve it´s own problems before it calls itselve a great country or a greater country then other ones.

A smart country wouldn’t let the wrong people make the most important decisions. That is where we have suffered in the past few decades. Money decided who was president, not intelligence or experience. That is sad, and needs to change if we want to become the best again.
The majority of people in the world love their own countries. Every country has beauty in it.
There is no such thing as the ‘greatest’ country.
There are only great individuals, and each country has had great historical individuals like they all have their fair share of bad people too.
Just to add, I feel somewhat the same about my own country, while we do not shout as loudly as America, we are still blinded to our faults, the great in “Great Britain” is meaningless.
I’m not even a US citizen, I live in the UK, this video bought a tear to my eye’s, America does have the potential to be the greatest country on earth, but first you have to stop thinking you already are the greatest, it blinds you to your faults.
The biggest problem in America is probably the people who refuse to acknowledge that there are problems and that they are a big part of it. Self-accountability is hard to come by. “The Newsroom” is a great show that I’ve been following from the start. I wish most shows were this honest about reality. This scene blew me away. Phenomenal.
War on poverty. War on drugs. War on terror. War on illiteracy…blah blah blah.
Do something about the corporate criminals, and the rest of those things will take care of themselves.

@James..The biggest problem in this country is that we allow the banks to basically regulate themselves. The world has Iceland as a prime example of what can happen if you stand up to them. Granted, it will mean suffering through some difficult times, but it’s the only way.
Disagree with some things: telling the girl she was part of the ‘worst geeration’ like it was her fault seemed like victim blaming. Then the spouting off of ideological American myths of the past like they’re fact. But he made several good points I feel, esp with waging war on poverty not poor people.

I’m curious about something, the mainstream press spent a ton of time on the Obama birth certificate nonsense. Yet, nobody seems concerned about all the people in government who have dual citizenship. I wonder why you never hear anyone in the mainstream press questioning whether their loyalty lies with America first or with their other country.

I’ve traveled the world nimrod. And the fact is if you’ve made it in TV, Film, and Music in America, you’ve made it EVERYWHERE! I heard Springsteen’s Born in the USA playing at a bus station in a farm town in France. I’ve seen lines out the door for Tarantino movies in Brussels. When’s the last time you saw a blockbuster hit from Norway, Italy, Spain? I love the world and I’m speaking from what I’ve seen. I bet you don’t even have a passport like 80% of Americans.
