I like your comment. I just have a question for you. As a Canadian today, who do you think is behind the tyranny in America now? I recently watched Marathon Man and I am familiar with the tyranny mentioned in the movie, but they lived in the 50’s and 60’s. So who is is today?

No, those countries wouldn’t qualify as better to me. Yes, they offer “free” education & medical — that you are taxed to death to pay for. They have more economic freedom ONLY because other countries (primarily the US) provide for their defense. They are also very strict when it comes to personal freedom (Canada, for example, does not support free speech laws.) Also, the standard of living is very low in those countries — you won’t get a house like mine there unless you are quite wealthy.

2) The US controls almost a quarter of the world economy. My home state of Illiniois BY ITSELF has a higher GDP than most of the individual nations in Europe.

I really don’t think that’s true (the part about seeing other nations as inferior. I may have to plead guilty to the jingoistic part). I’ve never run into that attitude. Better is a subjective word, but I think the numbers are in our favor. I don’t need lesser countries to feel superior. The stats do that for me. We aren’t perfect, there’s no doubt about that. It took us a while to reach this enlightened age and there were a lot of dark periods, but our formula for self government is unsurpassed
There’s politicians that have been bought by the corporate criminals… and politicians who haven’t. The ratio is about 50 to 1.
Campaign finance reform is desperately needed. As long as it’s possible, in fact, encouraged, to just buy politicians… why would the corporate criminals do otherwise?
Jeff Daniels is an excellent and versatile actor. He can be dramatic. He can be funny. He can portray historical figures, and bring to life fictional characters. Harry Dunn was one of his best portrayals, in my opinion. Comedic gold, if you ask me—particularly the toilet scene. His resume isn’t exactly the best, but what work he does do he makes the most of it.

I think that theory is very relevant to today; its quite a parody that we now have the access to unimaginable amounts of information through technology but no one wants to look it up (accounting for the loads of false info on the web as well), it could be a case of having more answers than questions. Historically, it seems ever since the Watergate Scandel, the public has been getting more numb to the government’s mistakes to the point the present population just doesn’t care whats going on.
