Yes and the figures support that fact. Look up which country is the major funder of the IMF, or which country leads the world in foreign aid and disaster relief. We may be broke, but it’s still a fact that the US leads the world and our economy drives the world’s economies. The EU tried to compete and has failed miserably so far.
I agree with you, however, I did state “in spite of our problems”. We could be a lot better but we do still lead the world.

Like others here, you seem to have missed the “In spite of our problems” statement in my comment. Additionally, your 1/6 of the people in the USA experiencing hunger figure is simple made up crap!! Show me proof to back up that BS. I doubt that you could even support 1%. As far as Europe being the leader of the world, ha ha…..you may not have noticed that the EU is going broke with chaos is many of the counties there. You may want to read world events once in a while prior to commenting.

I stated “in spite of our problems”. There is a lot that I don’t favor in the US. That being said, Europe is worse off and most other counties wouldn’t exist as they are today without US assistance. That’s just a cold hard fact.
Germany may be better economically that most other countries in Europe, but the economy is far from good (only 0.7% growth in 2012) and lagged far behind the US. India and China are doing well. However, how well would they be doing without investments by US companies and exports to the US? Possibly still fairly good, but without the US their economies would probably be cut at least in half. 
US is still far and away the greatest despite all the problems. No country can match including Germany. Perhaps if you put in more effort than you could succeed instead of blaming the country. Or would you rather everything was handed to you?
Germany has best green energy, and a fast growing economy with best cars in the world and less crime and expanding influence over Europe.
China has a growing economy and expanding influence over Asia and other parts of the world.
India has a growing economy and best textile industry in the world.
New Zealand is progressing faster than America in other areas.
Finland and Japan have better education than America

I’m an American and I’m planning to migrate to Germany when I graduate college. Because I hate this country, and it’s going so backwards while Germany and other countries are going forwards.

Then, in the same sentence, you criticized the president based on his race and culture. There are far bigger problems in the US than its president. You are a part of that problem. It is the people of the US that have to change & demand better from their government. Not sit pacified & sedated by network programming & trends.

Shut up, everyone that’s not educated in the “U.S.A.” knows that basic geographical fact and when people say “America” they don’t mean Canada or Mexico or fucking Brazil they mean “the U.S.A”. Why do we say “America” or “the States”? Because it rolls of the tongue easier than saying “the U.S.A.” -we don’t give a fuck if saying “America” is not geographically specific enough for you when referring to “the U.S.A.” You have got more shit to worry about than what people call your country.

I like the beginning of this speech but when he was talking about how it “used to be”, I would like to know what period he is referencing… a lot of the things he mentioned never really happened/maybe did happen but pretty much still happen today. America has never been perfect. Some things we did better in the past, some things we are doing better now. There have been several really low points and a handful of high points, but the “standard” of the nation has comparatively been very continuous
