1) Cut defense spending 15% by simply putting putting military to proper use. Go in, lay the hammer down (“innocent” civilians be damned) and get out.
2) Cut every social program by 10% per year for the next 10 years until they go away completely.
You’re a dumbass if you consider this 2 minute speech to be an authoritative stance on America. The whole point of his rant is to decry the complacent herd mindset of this country and here you all are lining up to say “gee he’s telling it like it is”. Don’t any of you people see the irony in this?
I wish that The Newsroom had held up to their pilot episode. This speech blew my mind when I first watched it.

Because this generation doesn’t have to, and everything that has been passed down in terms of laws and societies values etc, has been from you. We relax because we’ve been allowed to relax, there’s no corporal punishment because the generation before us saw it as being wrong (just one example of something that was different then and isn’t the same now, that effects discipline). This is just a last minute thought of opinion on what I think one factor is, don’t criticize me on it too much.
You say you hate the government, well they are the exact peoples goals in which you would be perpetuating.

educate yourself more prior to wasting your entire life for an unethical government. educate yourself on the futility and immorality relative to why these contemporary wars, which you would obviously be supporting, are being fought in the first place. educate yourself more on the system in which you would be perpetuating by serving. you have good intentions but honestly your simply young and ignorant. the US military does not fight for our freedom anymore; they fight for oil, money, and power.

Have a look around you, stupidity is what is celebrated, manufactured overhype, a new generation that thinks being dumber than the previous one is achievement. So many self absorbed, self entitled sheep who are so needy for attention to justify their worthlessness to society. A society where history knowledge is what is fed through marketing perception of mainstream media. People are lazier today.

So if you accidentally hit a child while driving, and he doesn’t have health insurance, and your insurance won’t cover all of it, you believe that you should cover his bill all by your self. Great!
I don’t think glorifying or lamenting the past is going to get you anywhere. I’m afraid this is only about 2 minutes of honesty – the last minute and a half is not completely true. Every country has its flaws and is never perfect…some make it more obvious than others. Perhaps the problem is that you are trying to be the best country, when really, there doesn’t need to be a #1 country at all. Focus more on fixing your problems than creating even more by trying to beat others.
Shh…the baby boomers like to pretend they had nothing to do with the rampant sloth and narcissism of the current generation so they make shows like this to shift the blame.

Find better ways to help-work to alleviate poverty & hunger in our own country, work to get much-needed help for the veterans who already served (and ruined their lives), go to college, study so you can get a good job … maybe even run for office yourself to bring improvement to the govt. Just sayin’ …
Sadly, you won’t be defending home turf as you expect. You will be “bringing democracy and freedom” to some other country, whether they want it or not. Do not join the military! It is another govt. owned corporation. There are so many better ways to help our country. You have a good heart.

That’s not treason, it’s “Failure to obey an order or regulation”. At the court martial it would be decided if it was unconstitutional or not.

More or less. If you want to “defend the home turf” then I’d suggest looking into your local militia. Military is far too ingrained with keeping the military industrial complex afloat and bloated with bureaucracy.
