I just want to help change it. I want to help make it better. I’m 19, and sometimes I just feel like I don’t have the power to do anything major. So I wonder what I can do. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. It’s why I’m so involved with politics. It’s why I love this video… I know we’re a fractured nation, we aren’t anywhere near where we used to be in terms of greatness. But, as the video said, we could be again. Better, even.
The first step to fixing it is to realize we have a problem period. I agree… I don’t know what the f$%& most chest pounding Americans are talking about… Wake the F&%$ up.
The video was beautiful. But don’t blame the kids (and I’m 55, have two of them). They didn’t create the mess. They don’t have the power to fix it. We do have that power. See anything change? And yes, didn’t we raise them? Weren’t we supposed to instill values in them? If they don’t have them, whose fault is it?
You don’t have to apologize for your generation. Every young generation i told by their parents that things were so much better, their life was so much harder, that thir chlidren are disrespectful, lazy, etc. I’m 55 years old, and yo know what? THAT’S BULLSHIT. We heard the same damn things, things were NOT all wonderful in the good old days, and the world is not careering off into castasrophe anytime soon. I have kids, they’re great kids, and obviously so are you.

Wake up America! We once were the greatest country and we can be again. But if we don’t get back to our principles and educate our young people and live by the constitution. We will continue to slip away on this downward spiral that we are on. So no, we are not the greatest country as of late. If you want to be great it starts with you.

I am 16 years old. I want to apologize for my generation. I love my country but hate this government. I plan to join the military once I graduate. Not because I hate who is infront of me, but because I love who is behind me. Not because I agree with the government, but because someone’s gotta step up and defend the home turf

Any time between the Civil War and the Civil Rights Act? How about the era of Vietnam, the draft, Kent State?
