If this is a conspiracy then the US could simply have paid two women to make accusations against Assange, thereby forcing the Swedish police to investigate. If it is a conspiracy then the fewer people who know about it the better, the Swedish government would only be involved if necessary. And there’s an election here in little less than a month, so I don’t think our government would want to get itself involved in any conspiracies.
