Jim Hoffer offered police commissioner Kelly an opportunity to discuss their stop and frisk policy but he was refused an interview. I have a whole new outlook on the mainstream media as there are good reporters that are interested in uncovering the truth regardless of where it leads and reporting the findings to the people. I personally would like to commend Jim Hoffer for reporting on what I believe to be a horrific case of police corruption, racial profiling and civil rights violation. Good job. I’m a white, middle class American and I remember being stopped, along with my brother, in his car on Queens Blvd. about twelve years ago by the NYPD. The officer who stopped us asked us if we had any “passengers” in the trunk, to which I replied “Why would we have anyone in the trunk?”, to which he just smiled and said that he “…had to ask”. He then let us go along our merry way. All the stuff in your video doesn’t surprise me unfortunately. It makes you wonder what’s next.
dress like a thug and get treated like one.. its not just minoritys.. you see white people dressing with hoods and baggy cloths gets the same treatment.. media has a clear picture how a “mostlikly criminal” dress… however black,white,asian people who dress in fitting cloths and act nice dont get that problem..
@Xirus5 You say if you dress like a thug than you get treated like one……well, since 98% of the stops resulted in no contraband, are the cops really doing a good job with their profiling?? It’s a style of dress, you don’t have to like it, but it’s not enough reason in a free country to harass and intimidate…oops, sorry, to stop and frisk, the people.
The cops are looking in the wrong place for the thugs….they should be looking in their locker rooms!
@shmutzo i very much agree but i do think you understand my point.. i also think your statement is a bit hypocritical too.. cause you know that when most americans see a guy dressed like osama or similar they look at him like he is a terrorist just because he like that style.. if you had to frisk one of the following 3 who would you frisk and why that person over the others?.. the guy in the suit,the guy in the baggy cloths or the guy in osama cloths? (dont know what its called)
@Xirus5 have you ever considered how many people have committed crimes wearing a suit ….Let’s be fair here. Wall street and bankers have stolen trillions from the American people and police are not frisking them. Stop allowing the media to create stereotypes in you mind that condemn people simple for the clothes they are wearing. If we allow ourselves to be that brainwashed then well dressed criminals will continue to commit crimes undetected while the rest of us are up against the wall.
@Xirus5 Ok, you make no sense at all! And your comment is stereotypical at best! Baggy pants, hoods that someone wears, makes them a target to get stopped? Criminals come in all types, suits, construction clothes, uniforms, etc! The issue here has NOTHING to do with the way a person dresses. You said that “media has a clear picture of how a criminal dresses” which clearly means that you live in a dream world of your own!
@Xirus5 you need to stop watching TV and watching movies. All of what you watch is fantasy. You think that everything on TV is the truth? It’s all propaganda to make people like you believe what they say. Just like when Bush administration said they found weapons of mass destruction from spy photos in Iraq. Or when they tried to cover up coffins of dead soldiers coming back home by not showing it on TV. Nothing but lies. Better wake up!

The NYPD is doing all of these stops to gain big numbers, especially in the Bronx. They had another report tonight on eyewitness news in NYC. A woman that was simply crossing the street with her baby in a carriage was given a ticket, but it was thrown out. Same bullshit from the NYPD. Only thing changing is the seasons.
@nycresistance many people make up their mind about you already before you open your mouth.. how you dress and how your body language is seams logical for many to reflect your personality.. if you feel misunderstood then maybe you should make a change? because you cant ask them to change.. thats not how it works..

Great job NYC Resistance. 2% seems like a very low apprehension rate if this policy supposedly works so well. These cops must not be very street-wise. I can pick out the drug dealers in my neighborhood, just by walking down the block. It’s not too hard.
@datkoolbrutha Your right, some people only see what they want to see when they don’t have to deal with the abuse. Some of these bastards want us to accept being treated like criminals because of our appearance or neighborhoods we live in. I have observed first hand how NYPD only conducts stop and frisk in minority neighborhoods so they can declare that neighborhood “A high crime area” and treat everyone like a criminal simply for living there. This is not going to last much longer though.

What is humorous (to those looking for humor) is the ‘professor’ saying: “If I have suspicion I can search an individual or group” and your vid shows the cars repeatedly opened and search along with the occupants yet seldom any arrests. If these cops are using their ‘reasonable suspicion then they are stupid, indeed…
You cannot hear the audio so we cannot say if the search was illegal. police can legally trick you into giving them permission to search you. yes its low but legal, I’m not sure about if this applies to minors. they also can stop you, and if you do not advocate that you want to go, they can keep you. your best bet is to ask if you are being detained or if you can go. also you should advocate that you DO NOT consent to a search.
How about a program called Stop and Audit focused on wealthy white men on wall street if its really all about fighting crime.
One former police officer covering for another. What else is new? These illegal searches are totally against the 4th Amendment to the Constitution. Does anybody else see the comparison of this to, say, Nazi Germany in the 1930’s & 40’s when people were stopped and searched (or worse) by the Gestapo. There is NO reason for this to be going on in America. People minding their own business don’t need a group of police officers harassing them. What an outrage!

Reasonable “suspicion” is lightly used and misinterpreted when the law says otherwise, statutes are not law, statutes are not law, statutes are not law! Fuck them and their Nazi agendas!

All over the United States, law enforcement at ALL LEVELS is making unconstitutional stops, and it is simply to get the general population de-sensitized to these ‘minimal’ violations of Constitutional rights.
They say they have ‘reasonable suspicion’ in all of these stops, but we all know that they don’t. If they do, they need to be required to declare what it is.

Its about time that somebody exposes these pigs..i live in NY and this has happened to me multiple times..I even went to the police precinct to file a complaint and they literally luaghed in my face and told me that they “were following protocol”.
