First I want to apologize for labeling the caller as a potential racial profiler. Of course one could argue that we ALL racially profile. But my sincerest apologies to her. Yet through all of this conflict and suspicions there seems to be a need to understand the difference between a BAD Cop & a GOOD Cop because we don’t want to racially profile cops either :)
Clearly the cop knew that this was Prof Gates home and escalated matters. He called for back UP! When all he had to do was establish Prof Gates identity and move on.
Oh so you think this a teachable event?. You still have not addressed the trials that Prof Gates has gone through to reach the place where he is today. I wish you could talk to him as opposed to labeling him uppity and not knowing his “place”.
But what about Gates? Acting like a black man who wasn’t feeling all that you are feeling? He was in the moment. The moment! The anger was right off the top his head! Yes he was an angry black man and that now means uppity? White people had a place for uppity negros back in the day before you born but while Gates was alive and well. It was at the end of a rope. Thanks for the clip. I don’t believe the police did anything wrong and I think after the meeting with the President tomorrow it will be clear. Prof. Gates is well known and has a history of being on the radical left with his views. I think that playing the race card and not cooperating with the officers who were there to protect his house was below even Gates.
I’m not sure how this was ever a case of racial profiling.
Everyone was wondering,”did the caller say black?” Because, if she did, it might be a case of racial profiling…hmmm? First, they were black. Second, two people appearing to break in (putting shoulder to door) does look suspicious. What it comes down to is, if they’re black, are they up to “no good”. How to know what the person seeing this saw. We should all give one another the benefit of the doubt and not be so quick to cry,” racism”

So many people just walk away from these type of situations saying nothing. They step all over someone’s name and reputation and when the tide turns and they realize they’re in the wrong, they put away the picket signs and quietly walk away. Leaving the person, who’s name has been trashed, to pick up the pieces of their life, on their own.
