Please note: This is a full uncut version of the video primarily intended for research purposes. See www.youtube.com for a short and concise version with added context. —- Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths ocurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010 on collateralmurder.com
@GarageMatt, yes, I could see the two kids, but only on a freeze-frame (briefly as the van was parking) and only when I zoomed in, and even then they were indistinct. That was, of course, through this gun-sight-cam video, which isn’t exactly Hollywood quality.
Yes, you contradicted your point (not the same thing as contradicting yourself). If the kids were intended as human shields, what purpose would it serve for them to not be easily seen? Yet you also said they weren’t seen until too late.
@Ryder0001, I was wrong about what was shiny. It wasn’t the “AK-47” carried by Stripesy. It was the “RPG” (the thing I said looked like a collapsed photography tripod) carried by White-Shirt Slim to his right. Look carefully as he turns around at about 02:11-12. Very obvious glint, especially when enlarged (either “Expand” or “Full Screen” mode). Very. Obvious. It lasts several frames and is quite large, moving up the nearest-to-gun-sight-view end of the object in question. That’s one shiny RPG!
@COMALiteJ I never stated that they were being used in that instance as shields. Follow the posts back and see. Somebody stated that we killed the kids on purpose and I was merely stating the fact that they could not see the kids and that they do have a history of using civilians as human shields, in essence playing on our morality.
@eszames Alright then – what should we do? Negotiate with terrorists? Don’t be naive. These people have been murdering “infidels” for hundreds of years in the name of allah. Long before the US was even in that region. Check your history.
@Terra812, do you believe that every single person in the Middle East, other than our soldiers and mercenaries and corporations and such, is a terrorist? Then who, pray tell, are we trying to “liberate”?
@eszames I don’t believe everything I hear or see from TV and especially the current government. I am diligent in collecting the facts myself, not being reliant on others. You point a finger at my while making false assumptions at the same time. It’s easy to hate America – but who ya gonna call when the next tsunami or earthquake hits…Freakin’ Captain America. That’s right…we even give aid to country’s that hate us. I wonder if we needed help..would your country help us?
@eszames our government all along our history?? in world war 2 we had a strict policy of isolationism, japan’s bombing of pearl harbor is what got us into that war..vietnam was a mistake and so was iraq, i thikn it’s unfair to say that our entire history is one of conflict and war.
@eszames and if believe that then im sorry but you don’t know your history
there were insurgents there was a firefights in area ,and they were in a war zone, though shooting of the van was little excessive but is a war they got blown the fok up, lesson never bring your children to a battle dont aim rpg at attack chopper.
@GarageMatt, I apologize. I did indeed misread your intent, and withdraw the apparent contradiction thing.
USA USA USA USA USA i will but these guys a beer when they get back to the states
@madmedic92 Brilliant. If an unelected terrorist group attacks your country, you will then retaliate by killing innocent people who had nothing to do with it. Jesus, you people are such scumbags.
@Terra812 potential suicide terrorist, he never actually did anything.
Removed my previous comments, because I was being a bit too pugilistic. I’ll give you the gist in calmer language.
Soldiers in WWI routinely allowed their enemies to recover their wounded, even though the trenches of WWI were a hundred times worse than the Iraq war is for American soldiers.
In this war, America clearly has a massive advantage. Chivalry would be easy, and yet they intentionally shoot the wounded and their helpers alike. The veterans of WWI’s trenches would be appalled.
@220friend What about the sanctions we helped place on Japan before Pearl Harbor? Maybe we stuck our nose in to something…
@DreamCatcher It’s kind of difficult to arrest a successful suicide bomber- sweep up yes/ arrest no
From the article on the 11 yo terrorist:
“I would meet a youth who’d been arrested with a group of Taliban fighters – He walked with a group of men over the mountains and into Afghanistan. He was given an oversized jacket to put on – the jacket that most of the explosives were found inside.
“When I’m older I’ll kill non-Muslims. If I don’t, they’ll come to our homes and kill us.â€
These fucking american murderers don’t have any right to be in Irak! They don’t have any right to kill people who are wearing weapons in their own land! Return to the US you fucking murderers!
Already with your “sanctions” you killed over 500.000 children!!!
See: youtube.com/watch?v=FbIX1CP9qr4
I hope you will be punished for all your murders, destruction and exploitation of so many countries, people and Nature! Your destroying everything with your incredible greed! Shame on you!
i hope this guys die of aids
@MidniteBliss You can’t make the comparison. It’s like comparing apples with oranges. Completely different generations with different ideals. In the first world wars there were accounts of cease fires during Christmas where both sides would meet in the middle and enjoy a drink together, later returning to killing each other. Also, we were fighting nations in those wars, now we are fighting religious fanatics with no country or uniform. BTW – they also used gas in those trenches. Nasty warfare.
@COMALiteJ Thank you Coma – it’s refreshing these days to have someone admit they made a mistake and apologize. It seems this generation just wants to blame everything on something or someone else and take no responsibility for their words or actions. You can see it here with the drive-by unintelligent responses of some who run and hide when they are challenged. Thank you Coma.
@bubbadankness but that was never with the intent of war or joining the war..and that’s not why japan attacked our base.
@GarageMatt, you’re welcome. I am of a previous generation [let’s just say that I know what ½ a century feels like ;-) ], and I know that there’s less shame in admitting being mistaken or even wrong than there is in persisting in a wrong belief or conclusion despite conclusive evidence or even proof to the contrary, as all too many do.
For future reference, my handle is “COMAL-ite,” as in “Israel-ite.” It’s not “COMA-Lite” or “coma” anything. “CJ” is an acceptable abbreviation.
@220friend
Then why did they attack us? I’d like to know what you think, because I’m pretty sure I understand how we got involved… and what motivated the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbor. It comes from these sanctions and embargoes we took action on, while claiming to be “neut” through the events…
@bobdude247 Uhhhhh dude Spartans were Greeks so they are still around. How about you think of another dumb analogy while your at. Ide like to see how long you would last in afghanistan a matter of fact how long any of you would last if America had no military oh thats right you would all be dead.
