The reaction to Cablegate – A brief explanation pt. 2

An Australians thoughts on Wikileaks #cablegate fiasco – especially with its handling by the US media. The reporting of this has been split into three parts: firstly the main reaction has been “this is irresponsible” and condemnation. The second has been that the leaks “aren’t anything new”. The third and least is that journalists are actually reporting on the cables themselves as news – like they should be. Also some thoughts onto why Assange does what he does… less of a ‘making everything open’ and more of a ‘making everything open so that secretive organizations have to clamp down and be less effective’.
