The Evisceration of Self-Defense in Colorado

This is the story of how I, Dave Brady, was approached by Social Service Case Workers and an Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy on a surprise visit in rural Colorado. While I was holding a gun the police report clearly indicates that I never pointed it at anyone let alone used it. I was charged with one count of first degree assault on a Police Officer and two counts of felony menacing. I was deep within my own property and viewed the rapidly approaching vehicles as a threat — as my wife and I had been receiving threats from our 18 year old estranged daughter and her adult friends that day and in weeks prior, I felt compelled to arm myself as the cars raced towards me.
