Why didn’t the US just attack Egypt 20, 30 years ago? It wasn’t a democracy. I thought the US intervenes in countries that are in ‘dire straights’ and in need of a democracy. The fact is, the US is like an opportunist. I’m sure that even if Egypt was a communist regime, the US government would align itself with that regime if they thought it would bring benefits and become an ally in the middle east, not to mention air bases, oil, valuable information, etc.
