So condescending at the end, the last bit of narration. Otherwise well done.
@nikanj
You and I qualify them. Sunlight disinfects.
Your same logic of “what qualifies them to make these choices” on what is secret and what is not should also be applied to those making the secrets. If you give any human the power to make secrets – they will one day abuse that power and start hiding grave misdeeds – which is why this new culture of secrets which has grown since WW2 needs to be reversed. I think it’s abused now to hide misdeeds more than it’s used to protect the nation.
@TimTrimT
Well military officials are chosen by a government who are elected by the people. There is still some accountability there but I see where you are coming from, to hold the military accountable for their actions we need transparency. But just how much transparency is best is a very difficult question to answer.
This interview highlights the need for journalists to make an effort to look at the leaked material rather than regurgitating editorial from everyone else.
“true information can also cause harms, so we strip the harm from the information.”
wikileaks is supposed to bypass official censorship and bring true information to the public; yet they take it upon themselves to censor what they feel is harmful. question is, who are they to decide?
@chanerth All they strip is personal infomation that roots to one particular person the rest (like 15 000 documents now) will be delayed to save lives
This interview is poor, which is a shame as talking to Assange should have provided a lot more than his saying “true information does good.” Reliance on questions formed by “(unnamed) critics say” and then “whoever they are, they do raise a question” is very unprofessional and also simply lazy. Why was he not pressed on the allegation that this leak has endangered people’s lives? Overall it was Interesting, but this should have been longer, more in depth and the questions better researched.
Wikileaks has shown great courage
Wikileaks, Julian Assange and Bradley Manning ROCK – “true information does good” – spot on Mr Assange – the truth hurts – but it reveals what is really happening and it is from this that true change can happen because dishonest governments and bodies of authority are held accountable!! Julian you make the world a better place!!
Wikileaks rules. Guys who’re working for this are working for the truths.
This is not the first or last step this is the back and forth war between equality and oppression we see throughout history. The culture is about to shift into an enlightenment phase once again.It is all done purposely with complete oppression we never achieve happiness. We also loose our humanity and become something more like an object. with too much enlightenment or freedom we individually take for granted the freedom and greatly abuse it. so the cycle persists and will continue to do so.
The amazing thing is Very important people will likely go to prison or worse because they where told They had the power to do as they wished and run things as they wished. The reality is they where put into power because of there oppressive nature. Even obama is simply fallowing orders.Your going to start seeing some amazing changes in culture. The age of power, tyranny and lack of empathy will give way to another phase of love peace and understanding until it gets out of hand again.
poms and their tea lol…..
This lefty twink Assange has the blood of innocent Afghans on his hands.
@alphecca2539
remote controlled “rightwing” fascists like you have the blood of millions innocents on their hand
@aerobique Thanks for the chuckle. You’re in Germany. So I understand that working out all that national-racial guilt is very important to you.
WSJ is reporting
“A group of human-rights organizations is pressing WikiLeaks to do a better job of redacting names from thousands of war documents it is publishing, joining the list of critics that claim the Web site’s actions could jeopardize the safety of Afghans who aided the U.S. military.”
Aussie twink Assange has blood on his hands.
@alphecca2539
i just tell you how it is
This was beautiful. Thank you for posting this. I feel it was very informative and allowed me to understand how Wikileaks views itself.
This man is wanted for rape in Sweden
Strangely, that was withdrawn within about a day just over an hour ago.

@siouxfire
No smoke withoutn fire!
Investigation is ongoing!
Strange: I always thought he was a queer sort of person
Many citizens might claim that this man is guilty of giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States in this realm and elsewhere. This constitutes Common Law treason. No doubt comanchefire and “liberals” of his ilk will quote “freedom of speech” and similar mantra.
