SEATTLE – Seattle Police officer Ian Birk will not face criminal charges for shooting and killing a woodcarver from Vancouver Island. In August, John Williams who is a member of the Ditidaht First Nation was carrying a carving knife as he crossed a Seattle Street. Officer Ian Birk ordered him to drop it and then shot him seconds later. Prosecutors in Seattle have rejected charges saying there was no evidence the officer acted with malice or criminal intent. Birk joined the Seattle Police Department in July 2008. He resigned late Tuesday afternoon (February 16th.) What the fuck? Aren’t pigs suppose to protect and serve the people in they’re communities? Pig’s know the “danger” their exposed to when they VOLUNTARILY join the police force. This is complete bullshit any civilian would’ve got life in prison for shooting AN INNOCENT MAN IN THE BACK.
WHAT THE FUCK. i’m a fucking outraged by this. what a piece of shit.
my letter to Dan Satterberg, in two parts:
Hi Dan,
So murder is okay in Seattle, if it’s done by a police officer “in good faith.” Interesting.
Some questions for you:
1) What is “good faith”?
2) Is murder okay if it’s done by a citizen in “good faith”?
3) If a citizen murdered someone in a crosswalk for carrying a carving knife, would that be okay – or are just the Seattle police allowed to murder innocent people?
I don’t know what country Seattle is in, but I doubt it’s America.
@jockdoubleday Part 2 of my letter to Dan Satterberg:
. . . Please get back to me at your convenience with your detailed answers to my questions.
Sincerely,
Jock Doubleday

@jockdoubleday “Thank you for contacting Friends of Dan Satterberg. Dan was re-elected in November of 2010. As a result we are no longer monitoring this e-mail inbox. If you are writing to contact the King County Prosecutor’s Office on official business you should send your e-mail to prosecuting.attorney@kingcounty.gov“
he should of put the knife down what an idiot. i would have shot him too
@MakingXboxLiveSafe You would have shot him also? Then you would have all these people wanting to shoot you and your family.
kill cops……
@MakingXboxLiveSafe it is hard for someone to put a knife down who is deaf in one ear and facing away from the cop in a span of 4 seconds, not only that he was shot in the BACK meaning he was never coming at the officer and was NEVER a threat. They also found his knife shot.
He shot the man five times in the back… how the fuck can the officer in question not face criminal chargers?!
Plus, the knife was closed and perfectly legal in length, 3′ inches.
If EVERY SINGLE CRIMINAL could step into a time machine, things would be different… what a stupid statement to make. But it works fine for you when you’re a cop because his sentence doesn’t involve doing time; it will be only to live with the fact that he killed an innocent man that was posing no threat to himself or the general public. Not many carreers offer that kind of protection. The only other job might have been Cheyney’s position as Vice President under Bush.
gives three seconds before firing five shots into him ?
at least try talk things out if it was that serious or shoot somewhere its not so deadly to kill him…
Dum dee dum doo dah, hey there’s a guy with a knife! HEY HEY HEY HEY – BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM! Totally justified, see a guy with a knife, yell at him a couple of times, then proceed to unload 5 bullets into him. What a fucked up world. And they call this justice. “To protect [yourself] and serve [yourself].”
The fact that he resigned also speaks toward possible remorse, meaning that he knew he did something wrong. If not, then why would he quit? He knows he fucked up, should get a manslaughter charge at the VERY LEAST. This is pathetic.
hey everyone! If you like killing, raping and just plain fucking with people? Then join the police force because you will never be convicted of anything you do.. you’ll just get a paid vacation.
I guess the courts decided that since this country was founded on murdering indians, the police can do it whenever they want?
So police can enforce deadly force and not be prosecuted?! WTF? So i guess the ppl are just supposed to shut up about it. Well guess what corrupt officers? We won’t!!!
Seattle is filled with such assholes, horrible place. Ugh.
Why is that fuckin Pig still free? He got away with murder, he should rot in a cell.. We should have lynched his ass for that atrocity.
@TheSkylur44 FUCK You Seattle is a great city every were has dumb asses and im talking to one rite now
@skullrider4 Seattle SUCKS and you are a perfect example of WHY…of course you love it, it is filled with assholes just like you!
@TheSkylur44 ok then name the flaws off seattle
@skullrider4 Waste of time. Filled with arrogant pretentious ignorant idiots, false sense of superiority and entitlement, all inbred and insular, no different from Deliverance, and wouldn’t see themselves if they stood in front of a mirror for twenty years. Have a nice day and enjoy “Seattle.”
@MakingXboxLiveSafe Really, you are an idiot. That’s about all there is to it. Even the chief of his OWN department said the shooting was not justified, all witnesses said he was NOT a threat/threatening towards the officer. Hell, in the 2nd cars dash cam it appears the officer hasn’t moved an inch, still semi-stanced behind whatever that is, 10-15 feet or so away from the victim, who had a knife.
@heartlezz13 Err, I think what you were looking for there is “So police can use excessive and/or unnecessary force…”
Enforce deadly force, really doesn’t even make sense. They can use deadly force and not be prosecuted in a multitude of scenarios
