@F1X0R121 These private guards are only accountable to their rich pay masters and employed to keep the average people away. Police are accountable to both the government and the public, at least in England. What you are describing is actually more scary and far more vial. You call people who believe in having a police force stupid, and believe yourself intelligent. No you just have a different view point. Its called an ad-hominem attack, the lowest form of logical fallacy.
most people can’t afford private schools b/c they are also forced to pay for the public ones no matter what.
i do not see the need whatsoever for formal education. it’s called “unschooling” it’s a fascinating concept. also, they could just homeschool. moreover, with technology, the price of education is going to drop so exponentially that the public schooling system is going to become irrelevant anyway.
first of all, we already live in a time when police serve the politically connected rich. to not see this is to pull a wool blanket over your eyes and shout, “but i get a vote, my voice counts!!!”
moreover, the rich could not monopsonize the market for security, it’s not possible. people who make this arg lack basic economic understanding.
you argue for monopolization of the market for security, and also for giving presupposed authority to the monopoly. that is FAR worse.
“Its called an ad-hominem attack, the lowest form of logical fallacy.”
i never i was intelligent. this has nothing to do with cognitive intelligence, but sheer intellectual dishonestly in the search for the rational position. mainly it boils down to people being thoroughly conditioned by the state controlled schooling system and through the big politically connected media. the democracy zealots have been trained to argue for their religion even in the face of outrageous abuses.
@8DX That just isn’t the way it works. junior is right, that is a very simplistic conception of the state. Police are autonomous in that they can pretty much do what they want so long as they don’t step out of line or stop serving the state’s purposes. If you’ve heard of political machines, those are sort of what the police evolved out of. That’s when they patronized politicians in a city, and when that politician won he would ensure their continued employment.
@junior00bacon00chee we actually have social-studies classes in my country, unlike you presumably (as well as history). I also have a brain and can read, as well as take an active part in political dialogue.
Now what the fuck was your point?
@IntractableJ “Anyone who might commit a crime should be imprisoned before they do.” I am completely baffled by this sentence from you. So you advocate MORE police power and MORE draconian laws including arrests for petty crimes?
Also – you once more fail to understand basic concepts of western law and order – arresting someone after the crime prevents the person committing further crime and upholds justice. Neutrality of law enforcers is ensured by the presumption of innocence.
Well the way you’re putting it makes it a little confusing as to what you hate. If you hate cops because of the system they’re under, or the insitution they represent, thats not really valid. You can hate the institutions, yeah. And i understand what you mean about the institutions turn cops bad, but then whats that really prove? That the institution itSELF is corrupt not the people representing it. It makes sense to say you hate the system or whatever. But not necessarily the people reppn them.
Its just like saying “Oh i hate christianity because christians are hippocrytes.” thats not a very valid arguement. Because RARELY will you ever find a sincere, born again Christian who goes by The Book. So that judgement would be incorrect via its representatives. But In this case, it would be flipped. You hate the representatives(cops) when you SHOULD hate the system themselves.
Only, the “white lions” don’t seem to have ever existed as an organization, whereas the Black Panthers actually did, and got stomped out by the FBI for trying to improve their community.
Technically the Panthers could be said to be competing with the local police, not necessarily the FBI. They were building up community services, and protecting the locals from the city officials.
They used to follow the cops around, visibly armed in order to discourage police misconduct.
I’m beginning to be of the opinion that “cops” are really two different jobs in one:
1. Peace Offices
2. Police (Poly-see i.e. policy) Officers
As peace officers they keep the common law i.e. do no harm to your neighbour.
As policy officers they enforce the myriad hundreds of thousands of policy statues of the governments on the unsuspecting and extract unfathomable wealth from the same in fines, tickets, bills etc. etc.
The two jobs are, to a great extent, at odds with each other.
murder the police. Stinkin’ pigs

i beleive there needs to be some type of system but cops seriously need to be like the description says, ABOLISHED, plain and goddamn simple

@Jcolinsol well, FBI don’t like competition.

@Jcolinsol interesting. :)
