This will certainly not put a positive spin on our collective perception of police, but it’s what I experienced. I know you didn’t request specifics, but I included them anyway. Enjoy, and thanks for watching! -Modias

GOOD Video! =)
I value the job they do…although I think it’s telling the reason why some become police officers…and in a lot of cases it’s for the wrong reasons. I have a few police officer friends…and sometimes it disturbs me the view they have about people and society. Perhaps it’s inevitable…seeing the worst society has to offer all the time. But again, the reasons WHY some choose to become police officers bears the most scrutiny. Alot are/were angry young men…and felt diminished and powerless.
Good video. I am gonna have to save my experiences with cops for an actual video because, well, I have too many. I was a wild child and cops were always ready to fuck with my ass. But I did learn one very important thing. NEVER tell a cop “You can’t arrest me.” Yeah. Bad idea.
in CA & AK i’ve had some bad experiences too, but i must say, here, whenever i’ve been a victim of crime, the cops have been damn close to exemplary.
back home, it was different. also, i went to school with some guys who later became cops as they’d always planned. they wanted to be cops cos cops get to carry guns, and cops ‘can get away with anything’ (exact quote). i hope that mentality is rare.
Thanks for the response, i apprectiate it!
Still, it’s a good thing for someone to remind all of us the vast majority of cops are good men (and women)…and perform a thankless job. And this is coming from someone who, in my dealings with police officers, has often been on the, ahem, shall we say…WRONG side of the equation?
;)
I told joo about the time I gave an off-duty ‘cop’ the finger right? Haha. Small town copz = dicks :)
<3 joo!
I had a few different run ins with cops, all I’ll say is, you try to be nice, but usually you’ll get attitude anyway… Great vid.
who is modias?
When I was around 18, I got stopped on three separate occasions riding my bike, and got accused of stealing it each and every time, probably because I had long hair at the time.
‘Guess what we did there!’
Fuck?
We had a smokers corner at our high school, too! I went there after school when I was only fourteen years old. Luckily the cops weren’t too mean to us. My town is really small, so we were allowed to get away with many things most kids wouldn’t be able to. Plus, we apparently hung out with smart potheads, as they knew how to talk to the police, even while making drug deals, lol!
I was pulled over in Provo, Utah once and rolled down my window. Being nervous I lit up a cigarette and this big meaty fist came flying through and hit me square in the mouth. My lip bleeding, the cop decided to drag me out of the car and further assault me. My attempt at defending myself got me locked up for felony assault on a police officer. I guess he thought the mere act of lighting a cigarette was disrespectful.
i’ve been pulled over on my bicycle twice. once for speeding (seriously) and the other for running a stop sign at 4 in the morning. those two cops were uber kewl…..
AndrewTheEternal, don’t ever pursue a career as a detective, he said “The Smoking Corner, guess what we did there”
You don’t have to be Columbo to figure that one out.
Or have all this time thought that people were having sex whenever they said “I’m going out for a smoke”?
he’s not telling you about the first responding officers involved in his being robbed at gunpoint. there was a short fat older cop and his taller leaner rookie partner. they asked for a description of the assailants, to which the other guy that was co-robbed with modias replied “they were younger black males in a mitsubishi truck. the older cop, upon being asked if there was any chance of the wallet stolen being returned, answered (cont.)
“no, not really. we’ve had a lot of calls like this tonight. you know how it goes. half of ‘them’ are at a big rap concert and the other half of ‘them’ are out robbing and stealing. you know how ‘they’ are…” the other guy just nodded with a smug white guy expression on his face. i half expected him to say “mmmhhmmmm. french fried potaters…mmmmhhhmmm.”
mmmmm…. good old fashioned, down home folksy racism, just like grandma used to make.
@pakleglia
It was a joke.
I’ve been arrested a few times, and the cops were fine. The only one that was a dick, was one I tried to run from.
as much as i would LOVE to ad to this debate i don’t think i will be adding my $0.02. but feel free to PM for inquiries…
