On Friday 6th August 2010, Ryan Hemelaar of Operation 513 was given a move on order from Surfers Paradise Police while he was preaching a loving message from the Bible. The reason given was: ‘Expressing religious beliefs in public constitutes a breach of the peace.’ This is Channel 10 News reporting on the issue. More info: www.Operation513.com
At least a busker can hold a tune without contradicting themself ;)
Interesting
well done Ryan, let’s test the idea that Australia really does allow Religious Freedom!
Hey Ryan, it’s great to see you again, though it was on the news. Gave me quite a shock. Haha. Persevere in your good work!! Praise the Lord!
@CASEwithscience And life from non life is not a condradiction? Abiogenesis, monkeys, magic goo, big bangs. Its all too funny
Good on you Ryan.
Cristianity is essentially a policitcal view on how we should live our lives and is a fairly “invasive” following for those that choose not to agree with it.. If they allow Christian preachers on public streets then they should also allow Islamic preachers to roam the streets freelly aswell.. Id dont agree with either of these as im an aeitheset but if your gonna allow one, then you have to allow them all… (id rather neither of them ) .If not then atleast resrict them to certain locations
@ViperWK: I’m in favour of free speech, if a Muslim wants to preach his religion then so be it. If an atheist wants to preach, then so be it. It’s a matter of freedom, not a matter of religion.
