Police Brutality: Cpl. Steven Jackson punches Shawn M. Leake, drags him to the ground then charges him with assault. HYATTSVILLE, (MD) Maryland Prince Georges County police officer assaults driver. An officer who arrested a motorist on charges of slugging and tackling him during a traffic stop in Hyattsville. A police video of the encounter last year shows the officer yanking the man out of his car, slugging him twice and tackling him. Step out of the car now, or Ill have you out of the car, Cpl. Steven Jackson says after the motorist does not comply with three rapid-fire demands to exit the car. You yelling, but you have to give me a reason to step out of the car, Shawn M. Leake, 24, replies. Jackson opens the drivers side door and pulls Leake out of the car. Almost immediately, Jackson makes a fist and slugs Leake in the face, then quickly slugs him again in the face, the video shows. Leake does not hit or appear to try to punch Jackson. After the second punch, Jackson grabs Leake around his neck and tackles him onto the street, and the two tumble out of camera range. In a charging document, Jackson wrote that once Leake was out of the car, he immediately took a combative stance and struck me with a closed fist uppercut to my face. As he tried to arrest Leake, Jackson wrote, the defendant continued to fight me and even tackled me to the ground into the next lane of oncoming traffic. County prosecutors dropped charges against Leake in January after defense attorney …
@edeal86 sure but the law is designed to punish people like you even if their was no law enforcement then you would still have been taken care of but just in a different way.
if it were for the police chances are my family and i would just retaliate
but that is not the point here
the point is when you get punished for offenses that are not criminal, such as drugs, or other choices that are personal.
of
when a cop beats someone because they believe they deserve it, that is trouble
@killCOPSusaSUCKS The law is there to protect you and your basic human rights……the point I was trying to make which is totally beyond your comprehension at this point. If some criminal gets very brutal then the police have every right to get brutal as well. As I said in a earlier post, this is not one of them.
Make lying on a police report a serious first or 2nd degree felony.
Problem solved.
@edeal86 the law only protects the rich and powerful, while many other laws were motivated by racism, designed to target a certain group of people, usually the poor.
the only laws that protect me is the second amendment, which gives me the right to own a gun for protection.
but what if the police were abusing someone who wasnt resisting, or what if police lie (which they do ALOT, they will lie just every time they want something)
and when that happens they arent even held accountable
@edeal86 why wouldnt you want to protect your self, or why wouldnt you want anyone else to be able to protect themselves, especially from bad police work.
or do you just suggest that we let our police do what ever they wish, with out consequence??
if we need protect our self even from the police we should have the right to do so, the fact that they are police should not make a difference.
all i know if i was there gettin abused by the police i would defend myself, even if it mean killing
cop got hands day be whippin ass
The asshole hit the cop , he deserves a good beating . Good job officer .
Fuckin cops!! That mom should go get her teeth fixed!!!
@coronasnlimes Wrong video dude….
Cop was hit first. End of story.
@killCOPSusaSUCKS No one is going to listen to your garbage with a name like that. At least you have a sign hanging around your youtube neck so we all know what to expect.
@ACMilan868
yep, low educated men who always wanted to feel big and now have guns and the right to use force. Do the math
And this is why police officers get killed.
……If your not going to listen then you deserve to get hit, your not entitled or special, its called actively resisting
I think american people its guilty. Cmon people you have right to bear arms. Your ancestors fight for this right. Actually you have many rights available for God’s sake.
USE THEM
@ROIDZ100 where then does the line get drawn? is there no line at all for you? disagree with an officer’s opinion and get maced or tasered? attempt to plead your case on the scene and get shot? you forget the role of police; protection of the populace. you are one of the flag waving, freedom chanting idiots ushering fascism right into the land of the free. congrats, you’re raping what you claim to love
@lezzunz4fR33 Nice Spaz response, what part of “actively resisting” is confusing to you…he wasnt simply sitting calmly in the vah. as you suggest. Also what would you have done? I hope your not going to say talk to him lol… and way to distort and blow my comment out of proportion
@ROIDZ100 so the next logical step would be a ridiculously disproportionate response, right? someone doesn’t want to go to jail, and isn’t cooperating fully,… well they should just be shot, right? why bother wasting all that energy punching them. again, you and all the people like you are the reason that the trend towards fascism and tyrrany are gaining real steam. congratulations! you are destroying america
@lezzunz4fR33 lol im done with you, I never said people who disagree should be shot and dont condone that, my point is simply if a police officer gives you an order you obey it and have every right to argue in COURT.
@lezzunz4fR33 Police have a very dangerous job (one dies in the line of duty every 2.8 days/ 59 so far in 2010) and I believe they should be very alerted to someone who is actively combating/resisting them….in your words, you are “destroying america” by defending those who commit crime and bashing those who would die for you….
@ROIDZ100 ok agreed, IF someone is being COMBATIVE, then by all means, use the non-lethals and do it by-the-book. i’m not condoning crime, and i’m not one of those who would say that there is no need for police. the fact that the job is dangerous does not entitle police to overreact. i’ve known people who worked in foundries(by far, much more dangerous than police work), and they conducted themselves with decorum. police should be no different.
@lezzunz4fR33 then I simply have 2 points, we view the video differently because I see the subject as combative and your point of other dangerous jobs is valid however its a completly different type of danger. They can be more trusting and “polite” to people because the “people” dont kill their co-workers and the “people” arent the threat to them
@lezzunz4fR33 …..also im not excusing excessive force, however the majority of people dont truely know what excessive is because they have no personal experience dealing with violent subjects…there are plenty of examples of people like the guy in this car who resist being pulled out then suddenly pull a gun or knife…..odmp. co m search killed by gunfire/ knife
I think this job poison brain whit sensation of full power.Like president job i think cops must by changed every 4 year or something.
I think the officer was struck first based off the sound and the way he moved his head back after the sound. I tell the truth no favertism here.
