PLEASE READ FIRST! These cops abused and ridiculed a fallen disabled Myasthenic woman – me – for over 45 minutes. I had already called an ambulance. I fell couldn’t get up, was kicked and handcuffed then ridiculed. At this point of the morning I was hysterically crying, desperate to find someone who understood my disease and after explaining it for that long, couldn’t even do that anymore! Who wouldn’t be upset? The Police and EMTs were ignorant about my potentially life threatening disability, Myasthenia Gravis (MG)! They might have killed me. Myasthenia Gravis (MG) means grave muscle weakness, it is an auto-immune disease which effects voluntary muscles ie limbs, eyes, lungs…symtpoms mimic intoxication. MG is rare but also one of the most under-diagnosed diseases. For more information see the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation website. Again- I fell due to MG at the officers feet and couldn’t get up, though I had already called -I asked these cops for an ambulance at least ten times, I said the name of my disease about 80 times. I explained it repeatedly. The EMTs were also ignorant and in no rush to provide me emergency medical care. The first EMTs ignored me completely and later slandered me! I had been in remission for over 2 years. My symptoms were excerbated from Stress/my nasty neighbors. These “professionals” increased my stress and put me at further risk of Myasthenic crisis. I was scared!!!! BTW- the cop abuse was because of ignorance and the nasty neighbors (who …
Get a lawyer and get a settlement and move.
God can use our abuse to bless us. Sorry to hear they were jerks but they need to be more helpful and you can get a lawyer from legal aid near you.
wow that is really horrible. Its hard to believe that people can really be that ignorant and dumb. I am sorry that happened to you
I’ve watched some of your other videos and to be honest i don’t feel sorry for you. The comments you posted are ignorant. Cops are cops for a reason. They know the law… Not complicated medical jargon for some obscure disease that you claim to have. there is no clear verbal abuse in any of the vids. Do everyone a favor and stop feeling sorry for yourself. Invest in an in house attendant if your disease is so debilatating instead of spending taxpayer money on cameras. Get a life u f’n lib
what is your definition of liberal? you promote gangs on your youtube site, yet defend abusive cops?? you stick up for 6 people living in a 1 bedroom apartment…
I’m an EMT myself and I’ll honestly say that this is the first time I’ve heard of Myasthenia Gravis. Everytime I hear something I’ve never heard of I research it. That’s how I learn the best. I am so sorry this happened to you though. Instead of the EMT being abusive like that, she should have listening to you and looked into it more. My job is being there for people and understanding them. For one thing I think you need to get a lawyer so you can get justice from what they did. Good luck. :)
I am a 26 yr old black male from Chicago and I have MG, whenever confronted or near police (or anybody in general) they treat me as if I am some sort of high druggie, when I have a really bad case of droopiness and I do not use the Mestinon because I can’t afford it… Everywhere I go people look and stare, i always hear people saying things like “look at that dude… he’s super high” I am tired of this true ignorance and stupidity
first of all the person who wrote this comment is very IGNORANT if U have not walked in the shoes of an MG’s life you have no right to disrepsect them and say the things U have said. Yes cops are cops for a reason but they are suppose to have hearts if they are human. If a person just falls and can’t get up they aren’t suppose to disrespect them. Its folks like you that make it easy for cops to abuse people and get away with it.. your the one that needs to grow up and get a FUCKIN CLUE AND LIFE!
for the person that made this video, much respect to you. and I agree with the rest of the ones that said you need to get a lawsuit started for they should have taken the time to hear you out instead of treating you like some piece of street trash. the world will never change as long as people treat each other with no respect. I have MG and have had it since I was 2and a half years of age I have never been through anything like what you have but I can share your pain. Always Put God First…
There was a similar incident but the victim is a diabetic,he was dragged out of the vehicle by cops and violently on the ground. The suspect was in a hypoglycemia state(confusion, unstedy and slurred speech) similar symptoms of intixocation. police should be aware of different disease and symptom in a laymen terms which easy to remember and be empathy to the victim not being rude and ignorant. If they can indulge a doughnut a day ,then they can learn.
I have mg, and the scariest thing is other peoples ignorance. I almost died 2 times before i was diagnosd. Muscle relaxers and some other meds have to be avoided!
Im so sorry that happened to you, I also have MG and other things that have tagged along with it so I feel your pain, Take care
I can so relate… I dialed 911 because I was having a Myastenia crisis. The cops here came first and hasseled me demanding information on meds, and whatever.
I could not talk well enough to tell them anything. One even got loud with me.
It so sad…
I totally understand your frustration. I too have a rare autoimmune disease (addison’s) which affects 8 people per million. It’s life threatening very rapidly but symptoms including weakness mean I can’t communicate & I slur words, get confused etc. Many paramedics have never heard of it & despite me trying to explain that I need an injection urgently so I don’t die, I have been ridiculed, confused for a drunk & even called an attention-seeking time waster. We all need to raise awareness.
Oh. My. Gosh. This is horrible. I hope you pressed charges.
this is a muscles weakness very like fibromyalgia in a way… and sorry lady we are not doctors even they have to consult other fellows or a book, nobody knows all, sad is in the field you dnt have time to grab a book, and you cant be aware of all diseases. the making fun of you part is tottally wrong they were unprofessional and in humane i apologize as a paramedic myself
I had to turn this off. I had a similar experience, and they even found out from my emergency number that I had MG. The police and EMT’s thought I was acting like a Sissy or something, and wouldn’t believe that I had to be in a certain position to be able to breath. I hope this video increases awareness of Myasthenia Gravis.
