Excellent.
sounds like a good victory Dave. Public servants always need to be aware that everything they do on the job is carried out in the name of the Public.
Good for you New Hampshire.
Live free or die.
We’ve gota start allying with local police, they’re the first ones that are gonna protect civilians when foreign military are roaming our streets.
HOUSE BILL 312
AN ACT permitting a person to record a law enforcement officer in the course of such officers official duties.
SPONSORS: Rep. Winters, Hills 17; Rep. Nord, Rock 1; Rep. Mann, Rock 1; Rep. Kurk, Hills 7; Rep. Coffey, Merr 6
COMMITTEE: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
ANALYSIS
This bill allows a person to make a recording of a law enforcement officer in the course of such officers official duties.
1) New Subparagraph; Wiretapping and Eavesdropping; Interception and Disclosure. Amend RSA 570-A:2, II by inserting after subparagraph (l) the following new subparagraph:
(m) Any person to make an audio recording, video recording, or both, of a law enforcement officer in the course of such officers official duties, provided that the person making the recording shall first give notification of the recording to the officer.
2) Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2010.
It’s too bad that the language of the Act didn’t include the audio and video recording of ALL New Hampshire “public employees” (ALL government workers) rather than just “law enforcement officers” in the course of their official duties.
But it’s a good first step. Now, if the Senate will pass it (unamended), and the Governor will sign it, that will provide explicit protection to the free press in NH. You shouldn’t even have to, but there’s apparently ambiguity with the RSA’s wiretapping laws.
Super Duper!!!
Finally a legislative victory for liberty! We haven’t had many of those lately.
We have had other legislative victories. The house just passed medical marijuana too.
this is a verry good bill! we need to do this in South Carolina.
Great coverage, as always. Thanks Ridley!
how can I find out about these laws in Iowa? I have yet to find a solid source for this information
I think that if your eyes or ears have a right to be there, so should a video camera. It’s basically “everyone else’s eyes”.
What? They don’t even protect us now. What gives you that idea?
Local police are supposed to serve the state and it’s people and not the federal government. I hope they uphold their oath if we’re ever faced with war hardened military roaming our streets. That’s why I think we should be reaching out to the police and not alienate them. Let’s practice our freedoms and at the same time let us be in a relationship of mutual respect as normal human beings. Remember the NWO’s plan is to divide us all. The only way to win this is to UNITE.
Are supposed to serve the State.
Exactly.
Its very hard to take this serious when you sing about a shirt. Give a plug thats cool drop the singing.
Not only that, they have no duty or obligation to provide any service of any kind to you,let alone police services.
Oath?Who do they take an oath to?They take an oath to nobody.
How does an unsigned piece of paper create anything?Espically an obligation.
Your a real patriot Ridley. Yah, I hear medical marijuana passed the house. Hope the Senate and Governor have the education and courage to do the same.
There was no need for a law, but It is good it has passed. There was no way it couldn’t pass. There is no presumed privacy if you are in public, bottom line, there are recording devices everywhere and the cops use them the most, therefore they had to pass it, or take cameras out of their vehicles. Keep filming and never let them tell you you can’t film them in public. I don’t recommend trying to film them in their living rooms though.
I explained in my other reply, you need no law to film anyone in public as there is no presumption of privacy. If you are openly recording they know it, so it isn’t like they could say they didn’t know. Film the police, they film you.
Stop the singing ….it sounds very unprofessional and childlike.
Hence ridiculously endearing.
