As of late Internet freedom has been challenged by governments worldwide including the US. Social media has given a voice to protestors everywhere. In England two men were sentenced to jail for sharing information on Facebook about the recent riots. Now the US State Department is giving $2 million in grants for the “Internet in a suitcase” to aid protesters in getting around unfriendly governments. Many are calling the US government hypocrites for such aid after a shutdown of cell phone service occurred during a recent protest in San Francisco. Could Internet in a suitcase allow governments and corporations to spy on and manipulate online revolutions? Eva Golinger, lawyer and author, tells us more. Follow Lauren on Twitter: twitter.com
i really like to watch these two kiss…
@telemanque You think? ..
Looking at the historical record since it’s founding it can only be concluded that the United States is one of the the most repressive countries in history. Hands down.
@blackiron60 More repressive than the Soviets? More repressive the Chinese? The North Koreans? The Nazis? How about any of the other regimes in world history? Think about what you’re saying before you say it.
@mindinflow fucken brother on my youtube acct.
@xtreme1002003 Thought about it and you know what? I’ve still never seen any proof that the North Koreans are as evil as the US government makes them out to be. Hell they’ve never wiped out whole peoples, whole native tribes, conquered foreign countries, or waged war on their own working class for generations in the name of keeping a handful of fat cats happy – like the oh so righteous US of A has. Maybe you should think about what you’re saying before you say it.
@blackiron60 Really? You have never seen any of the interviews with former North Koreans, including former North Korean military members and security guards? You’ve never seen a North Korea documentary showing how screwed their whole country is? How they brutally torture and execute prisoners and dissidents? And while I cannot deny what we did in the past I have to point out the flaw in your logic, and if we are oppressive because of what we did in the PAST, then Germany and Japan are as well…
@blackiron60 (continued) because they exterminated whole groups in the past. And by that logic, Spain is also oppressive because of what they did with the Inquisition and everything. By your logic, those countries are oppressive too because of that. And our economic policies of capitalism and free enterprise, which our government has all but abandoned, have given our people a much better standard of living than that of many other countries.
@blackiron60 Furthermore, even our poor are better off than the poor of other countries. We don’t “wage war” against our poor, we just don’t believe in the kind of socialist, welfare nanny states that have bankrupted so many European countries and will soon bankrupt us do to our socialist, idiotic President.
@xtreme1002003 exporting all our manufacturing jobs to China forced many of those people onto Welfare and took away any hope for getting off of it. This caused the increase in welfare spending and loss of tax revenue from all the lost jobs. America can’t just “mature to a service economy” like all those free market propagandists say. We need a manufacturing base to return if you want those people off welfare. Free trade is waging war on the poor and middle class.
USA and others are ZOGs, taking your rights away.
@esc1127 And whose fault is that? It couldn’t possibly be because of government regulations and taxes that make it incredibly expensive for businesses to hire local labor? Why do you think the Big 3 automakers, who largely employed UAW factory workers in the US, were all on the verge of bankruptcy, with two of them taking bailouts? And here in this country, per capita income has risen tremendously over the last few decades. On the other hand, we have already seen how states like California…
@esc1127 (continued) kill jobs through big government policies of taxing businesses and individuals to death. Amazon, for example, bolted for Texas after Governor Jerry Brown raised their taxes. And the White House itself said that the unemployment rate would actually be lower if it weren’t for the stimulus, thus demonstrating the failures of big government intervention.
@xtreme1002003 So that is supposed to excuse the very same party to lead the charge into free trade (republicans) who are now complaining about all the entitlements that people were forced on as a result. Destroying the manufacturing base isn’t the answer, and there is no argument that can justify the suicide of our nation. This is why the American economy is collapsing, there aren’t enough consumers and taxpayers anymore.
The four year sentence is because people have died, people have been damaged physically and mentally, these people are not protesters they are just mindless rioters. They should be treated like anyone else plotting to commit a serious crime.
I suspect this is what the banking’ and defense industry’s terrorists wanted. More money to print (out of thin air) and more shall spend in that particular industry.
Bravo! Those cronies has made China and Russia angels in comparison.
@keithbu Go find some attention elsewhere.

Than you deserve my reaction.
You know what you sayd and what i was reacting to.
So why play like you dont know ???
You seem to believe that we don’t want us to have a manufacturing base. Far from it. We want us to have a strong manufacturing base as much as you do. But the way to do it is get government out of the way with the taxes and regulations it puts on industry so that companies can build plants here instead of overseas and still be competitive. The way to get our economy going again is to make it so we save and produce instead of just consume. Check out Peter Schiff. He knows all about this.
