Part 3 of a Season 5 Episode of Family Matters. =Synopsis= Carl has warned Eddie about his late-night carousing before. So when Eddie is arrested for a traffic violation, he says he was the victim of racial profiling by a pair of overzealous patrolmen. Carl refuses to accept his son’s story of how he was “a black in a white person’s neighborhood”, and a huge argument ensues. But then Carl sees the two officers at a coffee shop and decides to get their side of the story. What he finds out is …
Family Matters 5×16 Good Cop, Bad Cop Part 3
Posted in: POLICE & LAW ENFORCEMENT
that was so touching!
I think Carmichael should have taken the challenge and have told Evans, “Jack, this is wrong. He’s just a kid. Let’s leave him be.”
Carmichael did regret not standing up to Sgt.Evans and Carl knew that. He tells him that he thinks he’ll be a good cop someday, but Evans is a bad cop because of his racist acts and he will be reported for it. I bet Carmichael wished that Carl was his partner instead because he could’ve learned more from him.
VERY POWERFUL PERFORMANCE!
you know i am a white man. and i was near a weapons call one day. and i was looking at the scene of the crime. pretty soon my hands were on the hood of a police car. they searched me, and ran me for warrants to make sure i wasnt involved and i wasnt involved. it was my fault for being nosy and looking suspicious. but what one of the two white policeman said was appaulling. He said before they let me go,”oh it must have been some black guy we were looking for.” then they left.totally uncalled for
This was one of the more powerful episodes!
So what are you saying
superstr5 ? That he’s stupid for admitting that he’s a racist prick!? He should get fired!!! F*CK Him! Sounds to me like your supporting evans!
I think both because Eddie had a right to be angry at Evans because he treated him like an animal and wants him to pay for racist acts. Carl convinced him to give his anger a voice by reporting Evans and make a difference.
I think Carmichael felt bad about not stopping Evans from treating Eddie the way he did, because he didn’t deserve to be stripped of his dignity. He wished that he had Carl’s strength in standing up to his partner and told him to stop it because he’s just a kid.
You bring up some great points, Ladyfire44…..
thanks i look at it from both sides.
Sgt. Evans racially profiled Eddie for a crime he didn’t commit and stripped him of his dignity by treating him like an animal. He didn’t regret the way he treated him with his racist acts and that really angered Carl. Evans deserved that severe lashing from him and got reported for it.
I think this episode is what made Eddie want to become a cop later on. Carl really inspired Eddie with his words, telling him that the best way to deal with a situation is to give that anger a voice and make a difference.
All parents should teach this to their children in the years to come.
Who cares that cop is “white trash”.
I agree…..
trash is no way to talk in a discussion
Well guess what? I am not having a discussion. A discussion involves talking back and forth. I just made a comment that fits.
this brings out a strong message of what goes on in this world today. but we as people should come together instead of hate and criticize one another badly.
I agree. In that episode they should have flashed back to this 1.
Amen brother!
WoW the maker of this show is a jeanus
sadly my generation think we know everything, and parents arent spendin enough time to tell their kids on how to make a difference most kids grab guns now to deal with a situation
Too true. When you’re a rookie, it’s like being baptized and being brought into the world…a newborn who knows less about life. By being in a situation like this, Carmichael learns more about himself and his duties as an officer so that the can avoid a repeat of history later in life and how to act on it if it should ever happen again. And you’re right, Carl would’ve been a great teacher.
Does anyone agree w/ me that it was kinda awkward how this episode combines slapstick comedy (at the dentist’s office) with the very serious issue of racial discrimination?
When Steve goes to the dentis me and my sister were replaying over and over again !!!!!
It had to have some comedy, otherwise you could’nt call it a sitcom.
