There were people trying to investigate the UFO issue seriously, trying their best to use the scientific method. But they were quickly overwhelmed by hacks, quack, & whacks. Like New Age gurus or so called contactees. Next thing you know like you said, a serious discussion forum becomes a circus of wanna-be messiahs & conspiracy groups peddling black government, Illuminati, & vicious anti-semitic rhetoric. So ATS is now junk. I’m hispanic & been called a Jew there.

@OverlordShamala Man, that’s horrible. I really enjoyed the board for a long time. But as it grew more popular, it pulled in people who were just there to cause problems. I mean, the moderators do what they can, but it’s nearly impossible to fight back against people who hide behind the anonymity of the internet. You see the same thing here on Youtube. It’s still fun to pop by from time to time though.

It was fun & sometimes interesting discussion would get underway. One discussion was the UFO subject, for reasons I will keep to myself. Sure wierd people would pop out & then, but they were few & far in between. But around 2002, maybe because of the 9/11, thing just got crazier & crazier.
It quickly became another conspiracy peddling site. Insults & racial slurrs becam frequent. I think YouTube is heading to that direction too.
