Illegal immigrant arrested delivering U.S. mail
So THIS is why my letter never got delivered… hmmmm, so just what is nececary to be a United States Postal employee? a car, perhaps a USPS bumper sticker…
RIMROCK, Ariz. — A man, who sheriff’s deputies say is in the country illegally, was arrested while helping a friend deliver mail in a Northern Arizona town Thursday.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 35-year-old Sigifredo Parra-Reyes as he helped a friend deliver mail at about 1 p.m.
YCSO Sgt. Karl Bentz said in a Friday news release that the deputy was on patrol in the area of Kimberley Way and Cornville Road in Rimrock when he saw a 2001 silver Nissan being operated in a suspicious manner.
As the vehicle passed him, the deputy saw a "U.S. Mail" magnet attached to the rear of the vehicle.
Bentz said the deputy initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, later identified as Parra-Reyes.
Parra-Reyes allegedly gave the deputy a false name.
He said the deputy, who is Immigration and Customs 287G certified, pursued the identification inconsistencies and the immigration status with Parra-Reyes, according to Bentz.
The deputy reportedly learned that Parra-Reyes was in this country illegally from Mexico.
Parra-Reyes was arrested for false information to a law enforcement officer and taking the identity of another.
The passenger and owner of the car was identified as 35-year-old Sybil Maria Rogers, of Rimrock, Bentz said.
Rogers, who was doing contract postal delivery, reportedly told the deputy that she was ill and had been letting her boyfriend, Parra-Reyes drive while she delivered the mail.
Bentz said the woman was released at the scene with no charges.
Parra-Reyes was booked into the Camp Verde Jail.
A records check on Parra-Reyes indicated he had been deported twice before with one of those dates being in 2002 after being convicted of drug trafficking charges, according to Bentz.
