The government of Maryland has made it a felony to video record police officers performing their duties. That’s right – a felony. Had this video been recorded in that state, the responsible party could be sent to prison for years. Just want to make others aware that big brother has reared his ugly head in Maryland. looks like the riots from Greece. Socialism doesn’t work, wonder if Berkeley should drop that from their required belief system. But then, entitlements is indeed the way of the democrats, people get miffed when their entitlements are played with.

While I am not opposed to the tuition hikes and budget cuts -unlike my fellow golden bears I understand that we are in a crisis and that as a public university we are not self-sustainable and rely on tax monies – I respect my fellow students rights to protest.
But, their first amendment rights end when they encroach on another persons rights. Like me getting edu.

Internships! i have sat in seminars at UCD and elsewhere only to find out the teacher was A) and intern B) IN graduate school coming from a State.
So are you not paying UC fees to be taught by an intern from State? ( I am fulyl aware this is not always the case.)
So i am done with my rant. i just think that (although i feel for them and understand how frustrating it is) many UC students need to get over themselves, their pretty UC tags, and look elsewhere. Otherwise, deal.
3) States have maintained the proper view of a University (better at least) than UC. Smaller campuses, smaller classes, more pro-active professors, and an equal education to UC on half the endowment and a fraction of the tuition. I mean, really, what got lost in translation that so clearly says State is sub-par to UC? I can walk out with the same Major as someone at a UC. What makes a UC diploma better than mine? Might I add where State graduate students go? UC! 
made it so only higher and higher classes can join them- in a sense, privatizing them. All to subsidize research for companies. UC has lost sight of what a University is supposed to be. Its a machine now. Take em in, take their money, pump em out, repeat.
2) Because its such a machine the education quality goes down. No one would like to admit it, but UC’s education is fairly…average. Hundreds of kids per class, interns, rarely seeing a professor 1v1… Students arn’t special.
1) As much as I understand NO ONE likes tuition hikes, we are in HARD ECONOMIC TIMES. Things like this happen out of desperate attempts to keep our wonderful CA education system going. What do these students want? Their schools to go bankrupt 4 years down the road? Well, hey, as long as THEY graduate, no big right?

We are all in hard times. What do they expect? They money needs to come from somewhere. But hey, I guess as long as they get their diploma they dont mind if UC goes bankrupt in 4 years, right?

Why don’t they just get their education on the internet from Bill Gates for free? Or don’t they like Bill’s educational funding for YouTube? Or is it just the lack of pot smoking from the internet education that makes them sad?

I remember I read in the newspapers a Democratic lawmaker (that’s right, a DEMOCRAT) told the media that he believes some UC Berkeley professors are far from reality. One professor is able to take PAID LEAVE while working on his novel. This is fucking ridiculous! I still support Democrats, but they need to learn how to say NO to some professors.
@LibertyJedi Reasonable people understand that the education is not free. However, the tuitions are getting too high!
And let’s not forget that, after spending all the time and the money, you might still struggle to get a good job with a college degree.
