Greek Police Brutality – The “zardiniera” video uncensored

From athens.indymedia.org On 17-11-2007 following the annual demo, commemorating the student revolt in 1973 against the dictatorship in Greece at the time, cops wearing civil clothes & riot police begun arresting hundreds of people in similar protests all over Greece in a typical attempt to impose a state of fear to anyone daring to protest on the streets. This video depicts the full scene of what happened to some students walking by in the streets of Thessaloniki. As seen, especially one of them was severely beaten up. Part of the video was initially released to the TV media. To that the Police answered that the student was hurt on his own while trying to escape and fell on his own (again) on a flower stand (zardiniera) while the policemen were simply trying to help him stand up. The Greek Police also claimed that the video did not show what preceded, meaning that the student was resisting arrest. This video is the full scene showing not only that the student was arrested for no apparent reason but also from the first moment he was being harassed, thrown around and beaten up by many police officers. This is typical of the Greek Police well known for its barbaric methods. What is ironic is that they are supposed to serve law and justice while in reality they are the main lawbreakers as shown by the video too. A force of thugs on public salary.
