@junior00bacon00chee what’s dishonest is that the only type of information you provide via your youtube channel supports only your view (versus also challenging it – which gives us 2 sides to judge, versus 1 side of you propagandizing it). it is as if you are saying that NO police officers do their job and actually try to help the population (which is clearly not true and if I actually have to argue this then it is really sad)
@theepsilon2010
now you’re just grasping at straws. i’m dishonest b/c i don’t track down stories of cops helping kitties out of trees? i’m giving you a point of view that you never hear in the media, which is overwhelmingly statist.
i’ve never once stated that no cops “do their job,” w/e that means, but even when cops do something “good” i still say that it doesn’t matter b/c they are funded through extortion, which is unnecessary.
@junior00bacon00chee Appreciate the rhetoric of helping kitties out of trees (I mean you are not being dishonest there). You are being just like the media you are trying to circumvent, giving a particularly one sided point of view ignoring alternative views for whatever reason.
Again you deny the fact that there are honest police officers that actually help people (“whatever that means”). Your extortion comment has no relevance to what I have been saying.
“ATP – ABOLISH THE POLICE”
@theepsilon2010
yes, abolish the police. they are unnecessary, why not allow people to opt out and fund their own security how they see fit? that’s kind of my whole point. again, i’ve never once denied that there are honest cops out there.
i think the point of view i am giving is far more accurate than what the media portrays. and what is this two sides to every issue nonsense? do you really think that every issue can be divided up into two points of view?
@junior00bacon00chee police is security. if you have an issue with police officers so be it. stop straw manning me, I am not a pluralist, if your goal with the channel is to broadcast your anti-statist propaganda then so be it. what i am saying is that because you are continually uploading anti-police videos it gives the dishonest impression that there are no good cops out there and that we should abolish the police (which is untrue because there are good cops and it is a more complicated issue)
@theepsilon2010 Since when did it become customary (or even required, as you seem to suggest) that one must do the job of their opposition, and argue their position for them?
“Hi, I’m an Israeli Nationalist and a Rabbi … but here’s a great video on why the Jews should be exterminated.”
That’s illogical, or absurdly ironic dishonesty.
You want to point out the positive aspects of the state? Make a video.
And you don’t even have to argue in favor of anti-statism , no one will mind.
@theepsilon2010
yes, we should abolish the police! my anti-statism is rooted in economics. strictly speaking, i oppose forcing people to pay for the monopolization of the security market. you know, it is possible to have security without police (and, in fact, i’d say necessary).
the police videos are meant to break down the fallacious notion that there are just a “few bad apples.” the corruption and abuse is far more widespread than most people are led to believe.
@junior00bacon00chee we have a problem with definitions. i apologize i should have said earlier that when i mean police i don’t necessarily tie it to a bureaucratic regime. the police I define to be an institution which enforces laws instituted by the population. In a state, this is done democratically (laws are implemented by democratically elected representatives). I’m not going to go into if it’s justified how they are funded (via taxes which you argue to be extortion)
@onlywhenprovoked I would mind b/c in order to be honest in argument I would put in justifications for why there are objections to the state and allow the viewer to judge and see 1) have I made an appropriate representation of anti statist argument 2) did I appropriately justfiy advantages of the statist position over anti statist.
Your analogy is irrelevant and just points out that you are misrepresenting my point.
My analogy was an extreme one, to make a point via sarcasm. Yes, it’s irrelevant.
His “honesty” does not require that he argue in favor of what he’s arguing against.
You can call it one sided propaganda if you want, I suppose, but so would your format. Sure, you’d pretend to be objective but you’d be baiting people to conclude what you wanted them to conclude.
At least he’s honest about where he stands.
Hence the painful irony of you calling him dishonest.
@onlywhenprovoked Yay you are being honest too! Continued sarcasm and sly strawmanning continues. I will not bother to respond if you cannot understand why it is honest to present all – appropriate – sides of an issue with the most sincerity so that an onlooker may judge and continue their research and learn.
You admitted your sarcasm and indecency and if you are going to continue that just to tell me off over the internet there is no point in responding to you.
@theepsilon2010 lol.
well, then, go forth, warrior of honest journalism
and feel free to make “honest” propaganda designed to make people think they watched an “objective commentary” and came to their own conclusions.
Maybe consider using a catchy tag line to point out that it’s a show of honest integrity, a show that is Fair & Balanced.
Have a good one.
@theepsilon2010
and what determines which sides are “appropriate?” your personal opinion?
owp has a good point, often times people pretend to be “objective” by presenting “all sides” of the issue, but are really just using that the frame the debate in a certain way.
i would only feel dishonest by putting forth points of view that i think are inaccurate or irrational, and presenting “all sides” as if that somehow makes the discussion balanced.
All of these articles depress me.
Jesus the cops are fucked.
I know 2 cops, and even they have told me “most of us get in because we want to help people, 90% of us however eventually just becomes people, with a badge and a gun on a power trip”
great work, keep them coming
I love listening to your videos. <3. Definitely radio material!
there is no longer “few bad apples”. There is only “few good apples”. At most.
@theepsilon2010
so is the legitimacy of the state ever questioned in the mainstream media, or do we mainly hear soldiers refered to as heroes and leading politicians on a stage delivering their very best propaganda.
you have to go to the depths of youtube to find a coherent criticism of the state and although juniorbaconchee’s videos are in opposition to the state, that is because he has thought about and researched the topic extensively like almost all anti-statists here.
Weird about the child porn purchases at the pentagon. So many! Reminds me of something I heard from alex jones O_o
Thank you for these videos. State apologists depress me.
How anyone can actually support having government street gangs running wild in the streets is beyond me. The large majority must be very responsive to indoctrination.
In 200 years people will look back at our times with horror.
@theepsilon2010
Whether or not there are “good” cops is subjective. I’m sure there are cops out there that I could respect, that doesn’t change the overwhelming amount of corrupt cop activity going on out there, and I’m sure jbc would argue that the economic nature of state police systems promotes wide-spread corruption.
Pointing out negative police behavior isn’t propaganda, it’s a necessary alternative to the overwhelmingly positive portrayals in the mainstream media. Chill out.
Thanks, JBC, and thanks to your contributors! Best ATP yet!
Keep ’em coming.
@theepsilon2010 He has never denied that there exists so-called ‘good cops’, but has made the point that the system is not conducive to having good cops in the first place. You’re also completely oversimplifying the issue by assuming two concrete stances that one can choose. Does the term ‘false dichotomy’ ring any bells? You haven’t addressed any real issues with the points in his video; rather, YOU’VE been straw-manning him.
