They don’t server and protect they know that if they judicial system doesn’t f-ck you the legal bills will, and they know that.
Uhm, Ottawa Police weren’t at the G20. Just thought I’d let you know. Must be nice to have no responsibilities in life that you can spend such ample time with a silly little protest.
1 million people live in Ottawa / Gatineau and what, 100 people showed up at your party?
Yesterdays news.
I think protesting against police violence and arbitrary detentions is important human rights work. You have every right to call it “silly” – we have freedom of expression in Canada… but I bet you’d change your tune if you’re ever arbitrarily and illegally detained as most Canadians complain when it takes too long to get through customs!
@xunatz
Sounds like you may have a limited understanding of how diverse a group we are. In our “party” there were folks with grandparents, parents, children, friends, siblings and spouses. I chose to be at the Police Station on a Sunday. Many more could not come for reasons of accessibility, geography and timing.
@xunatz
This video shows just a segment of people who are part of a growing national movement. If anything, this is tomorrow’s news in the making. Demos like this are happening across the country. Nobody’s obligated to travel to Toronto to demand an immediate, impartial inquiry. We have the right to choose a symbolic location, here in Ottawa, to gather publicly and demand an inquiry.
Maybe the G20 detainees will even win a cash settlement like those caught in the DC mass arrests of 2000 !
Around 50 Ottawa police were present at G20.
You may call it a silly protest so I am going to assume that you are not informed on the disgusting conditions in detainment. This is not yesterdays news, we want answers and we want accountability. Why weren’t those detained given sufficient amounts of water? food? much needed medical attention/medications? why were women humiliated infront of male cops? Threatened with rape? This is unacceptable and shame on you for not being there at our party
@farawaydownsable Awww, did the poor little protesters not like their sandwhiches in the lock up?
@jennfarrsuperstar Take a look at the regular public who actually matter…they don’t give a shit. Your ridiculous movement is finished…no one cares, except you and your silly little whiny friends.
Their cars were being burnt, they needed to detain the people to sort out who were offenders posing as innocent people and then protect the innocent.
@xunatz Ah yes, the “regular” public who “actually matter” Do you mean: white – Canadian-born-Christian-type *regular*? Or white-collar-university-educated hetero cisgendered male kinda *regular*?
All of the above?
@jennfarrsuperstar Neither, blue collar workers who’re the back bone of this country.
Take all three, and you’re only left with welfare assholes and professional students.
@xunatz
Folks on welfare aren’t “a**holes”. Way to kick someone when they’re down. If you “take all three” you’re actually still left with a huge chunk of the population.
@Kilotree
That would have been good to do while the crimes were in progress – not the next day at a completely different (and peaceful) event.
@jennfarrsuperstar Keep dreaming. 81% of all Torontonians support the police. Likely 15% could care less either way and the remaining vocal 4% minority think that the public’s behind them!
Ha.
No one has any excuse to be on welfare…NONE.
