Naomi Wolf voted for Obama.
@smttysmth02gt well that’s a turn of 180°
@smttysmth02gt so did 60% of the population. When it comes to liberty, she’s on the right side.
@slewofdamascus She is NOW. She didn’t pay attention to Obama’s voting record and supported him. I was just pointing out her mistake. I do not know if she’s recanted her support or not.
I like Naomi Wolf, her work on the guantanamo problem has shown her true colors, and her continued willingness to speak out against an over-arching government has not been impeded by the election of Obama. I don’t subscribe to all of her beliefs, but I know she’s a patriot who respects liberty as granted by the constitution.
@smttysmth02gt Are you saying a vote for mccain was any better? I don’t understand the point. Have you seen the legislation that mccain has just introduced, the “enemy beligerant” act, which gives the executive branch wide power to arrest, torture, and assassinate americans without any evidence being profferred, on the word of the president alone? Mccain, Obama, Bush, they are all birds of a feather.
@slewofdamascus Did I mention McCain? No, I sure didn’t. Stop assuming things.
@smttysmth02gt No, you didn’t, but it was implied, whether you meant to imply it or not. That was the only assumption one could make, short of making no assumptions, which isn’t very realistic. That said, I apologize for making the wrong assumption.
@smttysmth02gt
Not only did she vote for Obama but she was ready to leave the country if Bush manufactured an emergency to retain power. She was vocal in expressing her fear that if this was the case her life and that of her family would be in danger.
After documenting the abuses of Bush and his administration why would she vote for McCain?
Unless you are inferring that she should not have voted, or that she vote for a third party.candidate with no chance.
@qarohc Read my other posts on the matter. Any person who thinks a vote for Obama was any different than a vote for McCain, or Bush for that matter, is ignorant.
@smttysmth02gt
It’s a fucked up situation. A president controlled by corporations ( Republicans even more so) unwilling to restrain executive powers ( very few presidents have ever done so)
A Congress that is unwilling to restrain presidential power and is also indebted to the corporations.
A population that is being pacified and manipulated by the media, starting with Fox news,others attempting to play catch up.
Our war on drugs.
War on terror.
Its a scary scenario.
@qarohc While what you say is true, the notion that the dems are any different from the reps, in regards to what you mentioned, it unfounded, and simply not true. Me saying she voted for Obama is simply stating that she embraces the notion that I just mentioned. They are all on the same team in the end.
The right wing’s uber flag waving and manipulation of patriotism is indicative of any fascist state.
The right and left have booth been corrupted by corporate influences thats a given.
The democrats are like an insane person standing next to a monkey that is throw feces.
The republicans are more fascist any one with a impartial eye can see that. But that doesnt excuse the democrats. They arent undoing any of the harm that has been done before and they are adding to the problems.
@smttysmth02gt
If McCain where president we would likely be in Iran at this point. The growth of military power would have expanded. Their would be no talk about closing down guantanamo.
They would have rightfully seen his election as a green light.
This is without even considering the mess that is Sarah Palin.
Are the democrats the same as the republicans? No.
Are they the solution? No.
Are they harming the country? Yes.
But they are harming it slower, sad situation but that is reality.
@qarohc I disagree. One is more harmful only in certain aspects. The dems seem to be more harmful when concerning human rights, corporatism, and corruption IMO. The right is more harmful with warmongering and what not, but I have yet to see the dems attempt to stop any wars. At any rate, we do agree that they both suck.
@smttysmth02gt
I dont see where u get that the dems are worse in human rights unless you are referring to the disgusting habit of sucking up to leftist dictators that many liberals show.
Corporate? Republicans are the ones that give corps the most breaks although they are both in their pocket.
Corruption? Again about the same.
I am disgusted in having to pick between these two groups. But i cant see myself ever voting for a republican. Only one id consider would be Ron Paul.
