@Carsaresilly You’re right. He seemed to be very cool, calm, and collected in the previous games, whatever the situation. But then again, yakuza 3 wasn’t written by the person responsible for the awesome plots of the previous yakuza games. And sadly, it really shows.
makes me shiver, Im english and dont understand japanese….but the voice acting here is so mindblowing. The characters are vivid, the single most under rated game of all time in my opinion.
I’m not scared to say that I cried like a little bitch when I saw this for the first time. The voice acting is complete perfect, and possibly the finest I’ve ever seen in a game of all time. Seeing Kiryu as such an emotional wreck broke me to pieces.
I may be a dude, but when I first saw this scene (which was today) I totally cried like it was really happening infront of me and then when it was over and it went to the fork stab scene, this happened:
Me: *throws ps3 controller at wall and it falls onto the floor, miracly not breaking* FUUUUUUCK! T.T *wipes off tears and leaves room* (<--- really happened a few hours ago)
This scene killed me inside. I cried so much. I really liked Rikiya! Dammit game WHY! Why did you have to KILL Rikiya! I hope Kazuma kicks some serious but for this!
rikiya giving his last words while he was dying wasent wat made me cry…it was kazumas breakdown that made me cry :'(
ledenday game series cant wait till the 4th one releases here
I pretend that after this, the ambulance arrives, and in all subsequent scenes, he’s in the hospital recovering. That is my story and I’m sticking to it.
i fucking cried when i saw this i liked rikiya,liked him calling me boss,and i went to the tatoo guy to finish his viper,hooked him back up with that girl with the necklace and thought he was good to go then this shit happens…dont care about my manhood i just cried with kazuma
@Carsaresilly well, I’m guessing living with those kids in the orphanage has warmed kazuma’s heart that’s why unlike in yakuza 1 & 2 kazuma can express his emotions much better now..
and also I believe he cried too in Yakuza 1 when “that person” died of a grenade attack.., IF you now who I mean, cause I don’t want to spoil anyhting..
@dragoncat In the words of Adam Savage “I reject your reality and substitute my own.” when Rikiya dies, I thought the same thing. Nah he’s alright, he’ll survive… somehow.
@StrikeArranges sounds like a criticism. i for one like that after being so cool and collected the whole game, he gets this one moment to shine and show his humanity
@MegaOrpheus Wow. I’ve only played Yakuza 3 and not the other 2 yet so that could have been a potential spoiler for me, thank you for being considerate of spoilers. Only if everyone could be that way now on this damned site.
I felt a lump in my throat as I was watching Rikiya Shimabukuro’s death for the second time on YouTube. First time, I played through this scene on my PS3 I cried…not gonna lie.
I think it’s amazing how these video game animators/music directors can create such an emotional scene don’t you think?
This was sad, kazuma took it really bad too, don’t think i remember him doing that in 1 or 2? :(

@StrikeArranges at least the music stayed as awesome as it was in the original games :)
@Carsaresilly I’m in 100% agreement!

One of the saddest scenes in gaming history :[

Pretty ballsy of them to kill of a main character that wasn’t an antagonist. Really liked that.

I really liked rikiya :_( i cried a lot, with rikiya and kazuma. i really wanted him to live…. RIP rikiya
@StrikeArranges Really? I think the story is just as strong, if not stronger in some ways.

@Xezatt
lol that made me laugh
Mikio was one tough motherfucker. He survived getting hit by a freakin’ sledge hammer on his SPINE!!!!
After that he lived through getting hit by the same sledge hammer on the back of his head!!!!!!!!
@MistaCMD
Wow, mad respect for admitting that you’ve done that. :)
Here’s a toast for another dude who cried over that scene as well. *toast
