Is Benidorm safe for families? This is a common question raised by many concerned tourists/holidaymakers travelling to this town in the Costa Blanca. Spain is without doubt and especially more so Benidorm – one of Europe`s busiest resorts where visitors return year after year in the millions from all over the world to holiday. Violence here has been highlighted profoundly of late, therefore giving families with young children reason for concern over their safety and for their own.

Latest bulletins show how a British holidaymaker was paralysed from the neck down and his friend left unconscious after a fight/brawl erupted outside a nightclub in the so-called British quarter. Another alarming story told is that of Mr Graham Heggie, a 27-year-old holidaymaker from Scotland who died in the town centre after a being involved in brawl just yards from his holiday apartment in which he was staying. It is famous for it`s superb golden sandy beaches which have been awarded the blue flag, meaning: clean and safe. It is an all year round resort due to its fabulous climate, where the weather is hot in the summer and mild at winter time.

It is an affordable destination where eating out is very cheap, and as for entertainment, This spanish destination has it all. You can dance till dawn in one of the glitzy vibrant night clubs or dine in more serene settings in a bar close to the sea.

Star attraction for the kiddies to visit is the Mundomar zoo showing sea lion and dolphin shows daily. Another attraction is the Terra Natura, a theme park that explores the natural world, and for the avid golf enthusiast, how about a round of golf on one of the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses. One of the tallest buildings in Europe is the 600ft Gran Hotel Bali. This holiday hotel is located more to the area of Cala De Finestrat.

Police patrol is very strong in and around this area (Even on the beach) which can be off putting for some folk. Some people believe it is because of the violence that this is why the Spanish police operate the way they do, whereas in contrast, the fact is, police are great a deterrent to those wishing to commit a crime, therefore leaving the holiday maker feeling safer and secure. Spain remains the most popular destination for British holidaymakers, with about 16 million visitors each year.

A robber’s intention is to take what rightfully belongs to you, so it is important to take all the necessary precautions to hold onto your valuables. Some criminals find it easier to rob the tourist because they see them as easy picking opportunities. In other words you’re Jewelry and money is handed to them on a plate because ignorance prevailed on your part to lock away your valuables.
